David earned a B.A. in English Language and Literature from Savannah State University, a M.A. in Political Science/Public Policy, with an emphasis on Education Policy, from Kent State University, and an Education Specialist (Ed.S) degree in Education Leadership from Liberty University. David is the Founder and Education Director of a Cleveland area non-profit called the Advance to College Program.  The program’s mission is to provide Cleveland-area adults with cost-free assistance that equips them to overcome obstacles and develop the skills they will need in order to enter into a higher education program that leads to a degree, diploma, or certificate.

David has taught at both the high school and the college level, including Sanford-Brown College, Vatterott College, Cleveland Metropolitan School District, and The Life Skills Center of Cleveland. David has also volunteered as an instructor with the NEO-NAT program for OhioGuidestone (formerly Berea Children’s Home and Family Services), and with the Cuyahoga County Department of Developmental Disabilities.

David is dedicated to working with students who have found economic, social, or logistical barriers to their educational success. His experience as a U.S. Navy veteran, and qualified submariner informs his teaching and tutoring in that he sets ambitious goals and high standards for his students, but encourages them with empathy and understanding of their challenges.
